Police have arrested actor and model Ridhika Ridhi’s boyfriend, Hasibur Rahman, in a case filed over her death at her home in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Sunday morning.
Vatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam said Ridhika’s mother filed the case on Saturday, accusing Hasibur of abetting her suicide. Police later arrested him from the Bashundhara area.
“Our investigation into the matter is ongoing,” the OC said.
Police earlier said Ridhika was found hanging from a ceiling fan at around 6am on Saturday. She was reportedly on a video call with Hasibur at the time. Investigators also found evidence on her mobile phone indicating that the two had been speaking over a video call before her death.
According to police, Ridhika had an argument with her boyfriend before the incident. Police initially suspected suicide but said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Ridhika was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital after the incident, where doctors declared her dead. Police took custody of her body from the hospital and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Ridhika worked as a model and appeared in several television dramas, including Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy, Bohurupi, Double Honeymoon and Shundori.
