Sayeed Al Noman, the member of parliament for the Chittagong-10 constituency, has urged party leaders and activists to resist misdeeds and work by upholding the ideals and philosophy of the party.

He emphasised that party members must keep their intentions clean and stand by the people through their behaviour and actions, stating that this is how the hands of party leader Tarique Rahman can be strengthened.

He made these remarks on Tuesday afternoon at a rally organised by the Chattogram Metropolitan BNP at the city’s Old Railway Station, held before a colourful rally to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Recalling memories, Sayeed mentioned that on 1 September 2023, his late father Abdullah Al Noman was the chief guest at the BNP’s founding anniversary rally, an event he had also attended. Reflecting on those memories, he said that the day holds special significance for him.

Addressing the party activists, he said, “Those of our workers who are good, whose intentions are clean, and who are honest, are not doing well. To strengthen the hands of our leader Tarique Rahman, we must keep our intentions clean.”

He urged party workers to assist and co-operate with the public through their behaviour and deeds, and to work with a mindset of resisting all forms of misdeeds in society. He noted that moving forward while holding onto the party’s thoughts, ideals, and philosophy would strengthen Tarique Rahman’s position.

Highlighting the political philosophy of BNP’s founder, former president Ziaur Rahman, Sayeed Al Noman said that Ziaur Rahman did not merely form the BNP to organise Bangladesh, but also established a political philosophy and set principles and ideals for the party.

“Such a statesman, such a leader is rare in the entire world. How the party will uphold his thoughts is something we need to ponder a little,” Al Noman said. He urged leaders and activists to work by embracing the thoughts and ideals of former president Ziaur Rahman, emphasising that principles and ideals must be strictly followed in party politics.

Calling upon them to work towards fulfilling public expectations over the next four years, Sayeed Al Noman said that the party must practice politics that meets the expectations of the country’s 18 crore people.

“Insha’Allah, we will be successful by practicing politics that fulfils the expectations of the people, what the 18 crore people want from us in the next four years,” he said.

He expressed hope that the party leaders and activists of Chattogram would continue to play a responsible role for the party under the leadership of Tarique Rahman in the days ahead, adding that Chattogram would once again properly discharge its duties towards him.
