Passengers can now recharge their Metro Rail cards instantly using the Nagad wallet, eliminating the need to stand in queues or face hassles at stations.
Metro rail users can recharge their cards through the link available on the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) website, according to a press release.
Currently, two types of cards are used in the Metro Rail system—Rapid Pass and MRT Pass, and both can be recharged via Nagad.
To recharge a Metro Rail card, passengers must first visit the Rapid Pass website (www.rapidpass.com.bd) or use the app.
Users who are not registered on the Rapid Pass platform are required to complete the registration process by providing the necessary information. After registration, they need to register their card by entering the relevant card details.
Once registered, users must sign in to their account. After signing in, passengers can select their card, choose the desired recharge amount, and proceed to the payment method section.
There, they need to select mobile banking and choose the Nagad option. Users will then enter their Nagad number, insert the OTP received via SMS, and provide their password to complete the recharge. For future transactions, Nagad users can save their wallet number so that it does not need to be entered each time.
After completing the online recharge, passengers are required to tap their card at the Add Value Machine (AVM) at the respective Metro Rail stations to load the recharged balance.
Once the balance is successfully loaded, an SMS notification will be sent to the registered mobile number. A minimum amount of Tk100 and a maximum of Tk5,000 can be recharged at a time.
