Kylian Mbappé delivered a stunning four-goal performance as Real Madrid survived a late scare to beat Olympiacos 4–3 in Greece, ending a run of three matches without a win in all competitions.
The hosts went ahead early when Chiquinho finished smartly from 20 yards after a well-worked move. However, the night quickly swung away from the Greek side.
Mbappé equalised on 22 minutes, racing onto a superb through-ball from Vinícius Júnior before finishing through the legs of Kostas Tzolakis.
Just two minutes later, he guided a low header into the corner from an Arda Güler cross.
He completed his hat-trick— the second fastest in Champions League history — by bursting clear and steering in a third goal, all inside six minutes and 42 seconds. Only Mohamed Salah’s treble against Rangers in 2022 came quicker.
Chiquinho’s replacement, Mehdi Taremi, pulled one back early in the second half with a powerful header past Andriy Lunin, who was deputising for the ill Thibaut Courtois.
But Madrid restored their cushion when Mbappé tapped in for his fourth after excellent build-up play from Vinícius down the left. The Frenchman now has nine goals in five Champions League matches, three more than Victor Osimhen in the scoring charts.
Ayoub El Kaabi made it 4–3 with nine minutes remaining, but Madrid held firm to secure their first ever away victory in Greece at the eighth attempt.
