Rassie van der Dussen has announced his retirement from international cricket.
The decision came on Thursday, April 2. He made the call just hours after Cricket South Africa left him out of its central contract list for the 2026–27 season.
Van der Dussen was one of the big names missing from the new list. Senior player David Miller was also not included. The omission made the situation clear, and van der Dussen soon decided to step away from international cricket.
The 37-year-old had earlier hinted that he might not play much Test cricket this season. But his full retirement has come as a surprise. He shared the news through a long post on social media.
Van der Dussen played 146 international matches. He scored 4,968 runs in total. One-day cricket was his best format, where he averaged 50.13.
