Rangpur Boys stormed into the Notun Kuri Sports 2026 cricket semi-finals with a commanding 10-wicket victory over Cumilla Boys in the quarter-finals at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Rangpur captain Abdul Kaiyum Sakib elected to field first, and his bowlers immediately justified the decision.
Farhan Sadik struck early to remove Cumilla’s first batter with only six runs on the board. The wickets continued to tumble as Cumilla slipped to 11 for two and 29 for three before collapsing for just 56 in 9.5 overs.
Abrar Jasin top-scored with 15 from 11 balls, including one four and one six, while Brihat Debnath made 12 and Md Farhan Shahriar Hamim added nine. No other batter managed to make a significant contribution.
Rangpur’s bowlers shared the wickets. Shahin Islam Shahi impressed with 2 for 2 from his two overs, while Farhan Kabir, Farhan Sadik and Md Nawfel Ehsan Nirab claimed two wickets each.
Chasing a modest target of 57, Rangpur never looked under pressure.
Captain Abdul Kaiyum Sakib led from the front with an unbeaten 37 off 27 balls, striking seven fours and a six. His opening partner Ilman Bin Imtiaz remained unbeaten on 18 as the pair completed the chase without losing a wicket.
Rangpur reached 59 without loss in 8.3 overs, sealing a comprehensive victory and booking their place in the semi-finals.
