Demand for refrigerators has surged across Bangladesh ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr as households increase food storage during Ramadan, with Walton emerging as a major beneficiary of the seasonal buying trend.

Market sources say consumers are purchasing new refrigerators to store food for iftar and sehri, entertain guests and prepare for post-Eid use.

The increase in demand has been visible at Walton Plazas and distributor showrooms across the country including Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Sylhet, Feni, Narsingdi and Bogura.

Salespeople say buyers are increasingly seeking energy-efficient and technologically advanced appliances rather than basic refrigerators.

Walton Chief Marketing Officer Zoheb Ahmed said the need for family-based food storage rises significantly during Ramadan.

Preparing meals for iftar and sehri in advance requires larger or more efficient refrigerators to safely store fruits, dairy products, meat, frozen items and cooked food, he said.

As a result, many households replace older appliances during the month, pushing up sales every year during Ramadan.

Walton Fridge Chief Business Officer Tahsinul Haque said the Eid season consistently generates strong refrigerator demand.

Many buyers choose the pre-Eid period to purchase appliances as salaries and bonuses increase household spending power, he said.

According to him, Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha together account for more than half of the country’s annual refrigerator sales.

Haque said Walton refrigerators are attracting buyers due to their technology, performance, energy efficiency, after-sales service and modern designs.

He added that newer models include features such as AI Doctor, Internet of Things connectivity, MSO inverter technology, dual temperature control, holiday mode, turbo and super modes, eight-in-one convertible options, a 21.5-inch display, reversible doors and water dispensers.

These features allow users to control appliances through smartphones while improving energy efficiency and convenience, he said.

Market analysts say the rising demand ahead of Eid has strengthened Walton’s position in the domestic appliance market by combining technology, competitive pricing and locally manufactured products.

Walton is also offering promotional benefits during the festive season.

Under the company’s ongoing Season-23 digital campaign titled “Next Level Deal”, customers purchasing refrigerators from Walton Plazas, distributor showrooms or online are receiving various electronic products and guaranteed gifts.

Customers across the country have reportedly received free products and prizes under the campaign.

Walton Plaza is also offering a 10 per cent discount on refrigerators and freezers under a promotion called “Saving in Moderation”.

The offer applies to purchases made between February 5 and February 23 at Walton Plazas or through online channels.

Additionally, selected models purchased online between February 6 and February 21 are being offered with discounts of up to 18 per cent.

Walton’s refrigeration portfolio includes direct cool refrigerators, no-frost models, freezers, beverage coolers and other upcoming models.

The company currently offers more than 300 refrigerator models ranging from 50 litres to 660 litres in capacity.

Prices range from Tk15,690 to Tk2,40,000 depending on size and features.
