Rainfall is likely to continue across Bangladesh over the next five days as the monsoon remains active over the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Sunday.
According to the Met Office, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are expected at most places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at many places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
The forecast also said moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places across the country during the period.
The BMD said day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged nationwide.
The Met Office said the axis of the monsoon trough extends through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, passing across the northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs stretches to the north-west Bay of Bengal.
It added that the monsoon remains active over the northern part of Bangladesh, fairly active over the rest of the country, and moderate over the North Bay.
