Rain played the decisive role in Navi Mumbai as India’s match against Bangladesh was called off. The game, part of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, had already been shortened due to earlier showers, and the Women in Blue had reached 57 without loss in 8.4 overs when bad weather returned, bringing play to an abrupt halt.
Earlier, Bangladesh were sent in to bat and managed 119 for 9 in a rain-truncated 27-over innings under the Duckworth–Lewis method, setting India a target of 126. Sharmin Akter top-scored with 36, while Sobhana Mostary played an attacking 26 off 21 balls to steady the innings. Opener Sumaiya managed just 2 runs off 6 deliveries, and Rubaiya Haider Jhilik contributed 13 off 32 balls before falling while trying to accelerate the scoring. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty added 9 off 24 balls.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur had won the toss and opted to field first, making three changes to her side by bringing in Uma Chetry, Radha Yadav, and Amanjot Kaur for rested players Richa Ghosh, Kranti Gaud, and Sneh Rana. Radha Yadav returned to the national side in style, taking three wickets and effecting a brilliant run out as India restricted Bangladesh to their total.
The match had already seen multiple interruptions, including a 35-minute delay for the toss and a two-hour pause after the start of play, reducing the match from 50 to 43 overs before it was further cut to 27. A concern for India came when Pratika Rawal slipped on the wet outfield and had to be assisted off.
