Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has intensified security measures in Chattogram city and other key areas to maintain law and order during the Eid-ul-Fitr.

RAB-7 Commander Md Hafizur Rahman informed reporters about the measures on Thursday afternoon after inspecting the central Eidgah ground at Jamiatul Falah.

He said patrols have been increased in crowded parts of the city and at major points, while plainclothes surveillance has also been expanded to ensure safe travel for holidaymakers.

RAB also reported efforts to stop overcharging of passengers, ticket syndicates, and black-market sales. Regular checkpoints are being set up to inspect vehicles.

Authorities are conducting special patrols to prevent sabotage in empty homes and markets during the holiday. They are also prepared to counter any attempts to spread rumors, disrupt communal harmony, or cause unrest around Eid congregations.

Security arrangements will continue after Eid at recreation centres, parks, and the zoo to protect visitors. RAB-7 said sufficient reserve forces are ready to respond to any untoward situation and warned that strict legal action will be taken against violence or crime during the festival.
