The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has recovered foreign rifles from an abandoned condition in the Chandgaon area of Chattogram city, officials said on Wednesday.
The weapon was recovered early Wednesday morning during an operation based on secret information, according to RAB-7 sources.
Acting on a tip-off about a foreign weapon lying in the Feda Pukurpar area of Hajirpul under Chandgaon Police Station, a RAB team conducted the operation around 4:45 am.
A HK G-3 rifle without a butt and magazine, with its trigger intact, was recovered from the spot, officials said.
RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Mozaffor Hossain said they are investigating who left the weapon there. The recovered weapon has been handed over to Chandgaon Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jasim Uddin said the weapon’s type and functionality will be examined and verified before taking further action.
