The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB‑6) has arrested Al Amin Hasan Saifi, the alleged mastermind, and his associate Md Rafikul Islam Rakib, in connection with the double murder in Labonchora, Khulna.
The suspects were arrested on Friday from Majhigati Rajar area under Gopalganj Sadar Police Station. During initial interrogation, they confessed to direct involvement in the killings.
On 19 August, two young men, Md Monjur Islam and Md Nazmul, were shot and hacked to death within hours at 80 Bigha in the Horintana area under Labonchora Police Station.
Following the murders, RAB‑6 launched an investigation and found Saifi, a notorious gang leader from Khulna’s Tutpara area, and his syndicate directly involved.
RAB said the killings stemmed from internal feuds and drug trafficking between rival gangs. Saifi is reportedly a follower of the “B Company,” while Monjur was linked to the rival “Rohan Palash Group.”
According to Saifi’s confession, Rafikul killed Nazmul, a member of Saifi’s gang. Meanwhile, Saifi and 15 to 16 of his gang members raided the 80 Bigha area, where they shot and hacked Monjur to death in front of his father.
RAB recovered a shotgun, a pistol, and three sharp weapons allegedly used in the double murder. Operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.
