The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has dismissed as baseless and misleading the recent rumours circulating on social and some mainstream media that Qatar has stopped issuing visas to Bangladeshi workers.

In an official statement, the ministry termed the claim a fabricated rumour aimed at creating confusion among the public. It urged citizens to remain cautious and refrain from spreading or believing such misinformation.

The ministry clarified that the Qatari labour market remains open to Bangladeshi workers, and the flow of migrant workers continues as usual. According to official data, 111,662 Bangladeshi workers were sent to Qatar between September 2024 and September 2025.

Currently, 425,681 Bangladeshi nationals are employed in Qatar across various sectors.

The ministry also raised concern over false and deceptive campaigns regarding so-called “free visas” to Qatar, which it categorically stated do not exist in the Qatari immigration system.

“All concerned are advised to be alert and not fall victim to such misinformation,” the ministry said in its advisory.
