The results of the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination were officially published on Sunday.
A total of 79,246 students have been awarded scholarships, including 32,965 in the Talent Pool category
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon formally announced the results at a press conference held at the conference room of the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka.
The minister said 43,354 girls received scholarships, accounting for 54.71 per cent of the total recipients, while 35,892 boys secured scholarships, representing 45.29 per cent.
Speaking at a press briefing at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital, he said the Primary Scholarship Examination-2025 was held in April for fifth-grade students to identify and recognise academic excellence and encourage educational institutions to contribute to building a knowledge-based generation.
More than 6.40 lakh students took part in this year’s examination, including around 5.50 lakh students from government primary schools and about 90,000 from non-government primary schools and kindergartens, he said.
Under the Primary Scholarship Examination Policy-2026, the government planned to award 82,500 scholarships nationwide, including 33,000 Talent Pool scholarships and 49,500 General scholarships.
For Talent Pool scholarships, 80 per cent of the quota was allocated to students from government primary schools, while 20 per cent was reserved for students from non-government institutions.
Of the 49,500 General scholarships, 39,600 were allocated to government primary schools based on unions and wards, with five scholarships for each unit — two for boys, two for girls and one based on merit.
The remaining 20 per cent of General scholarships were reserved for students of non-government institutions at the upazila level, the minister said.
A total of 78,810 educational institutions participated in the examination, including 65,605 government primary schools and 13,205 non-government schools.
The number of registered candidates was 645,041, comprising 256,117 boys and 388,924 girls.
A total of 419,982 students appeared in the examination, accounting for 65.11 per cent of registered candidates.
Among them, 344,127 students from government schools, or 62.01 per cent of registered candidates in that category, and 75,855 students from non-government institutions, or 84.16 per cent, took part in the examination.
Of the examinees, 166,641 were boys, representing 39.68 per cent, while 253,341 were girls, accounting for 60.32 per cent.
Among the Talent Pool scholarship recipients, 26,375 students are from government primary schools and 6,590 from non-government institutions. Of the 46,281 General scholarship recipients, 36,420 are from government schools and 9,861 from non-government schools.
The minister said the scholarship results had already started being uploaded at the Directorate of Primary Education office in Mirpur and the entire process was expected to be completed within the next two to three hours.
