Robi Axiata PLC has expanded its electric vehicle initiative to 458 upazilas and thanas across all 64 districts, deploying more ‘Robi Super Bikes’ to improve field services while reducing reliance on fossil-fuel-powered motorcycles.
The telecom operator said the nationwide rollout will help field employees provide customer support, promote digital services and carry out operational activities more efficiently at union and thana levels.
Robi said the electric bikes are part of its broader effort to strengthen sustainable mobility, improve service delivery and expand its distribution network.
“The Robi Super Bike initiative is an important step towards building a sustainable transportation ecosystem while enabling us to deliver digital services more effectively to remote parts of the country,” Robi Axiata PLC Chief Commercial Officer Shihab Ahmad said.
He said the expanded fleet would support environmental protection while ensuring faster and more reliable services for customers.
Introduced last year, the bikes are equipped with features including convertible cargo boxes, USB charging ports, lamps, Robi-branded umbrellas and audio microphones for public awareness campaigns.
The bikes also use technology such as facial-recognition unlocking, geo-fencing and real-time GPS tracking to improve safety and monitor operations.
Robi said the initiative would help reduce carbon emissions while supporting digital inclusion in underserved and remote communities.
Robi Axiata PLC is Bangladesh’s second-largest mobile network operator. Malaysia-based Axiata Group Berhad holds a majority 61.82 per cent stake in the company, while India’s Bharti Airtel holds 28.18 per cent.
