President Mohammed Shahabuddin reached his hometown Pabna on Saturday noon for a four-day official visit.
The president landed at the Pabna Stadium helipad around 12:50pm, where he was formally received with floral tributes.
Among those present to receive him were Pabna-5 lawmaker Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Member of Parliament for Pabna-5 (Sadar); ANM Bazlur Rashid, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner; Md Shahjahan, DIG of Rajshahi Range; Dr Shahed Mostafa, Pabna Deputy Commissioner; and Anwar Zahid, Superintendent of Police. Other notable attendees included Habibur Rahman Habib, Convener of Pabna District BNP; Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar, President of Pabna Press Club; Zahurul Islam, General Secretary; and former General Secretary Akhinur Islam Remon.
This journey marks the president’s first visit to Pabna following the formation of the new BNP-led government. In anticipation of his arrival, the Pabna district administration made extensive preparations, and law enforcement agencies have implemented impenetrable security measures throughout the area.
Following his arrival, the president received a guard of honour at the Pabna Circuit House, where he subsequently held courtesy meetings with local political figures and dignitaries. He is scheduled to stay overnight at the Circuit House for the duration of his visit.
According to a schedule signed by Protocol Officer Abul Kalam Md Lutfur Rahman, the President will visit the Arifpur Cemetery in Pabna Sadar at 11:10am on Sunday to offer prayers at the graves of his parents. Later that evening, at 7pm, he will engage in an exchange of views with journalists at the Pabna Press Club.
On Monday, president is slated to visit the Bhawanipur Mosque in Sadar Upazila at 11am. At 7pm the same day, he will visit his private residence in Pabna town.
The president’s visit will end on Tuesday. After receiving a final guard of honour at the Circuit House at 11:40am, he is scheduled to depart for Dhaka via helicopter from the Pabna Cadet College ground at 12pm.
