Private commercial lender Premier Bank PLC is moving its head office from Iqbal Center, a building owned by its founder chairman HBM Iqbal, after 26 years.
The bank, which has operated from Iqbal Center on Kamal Ataturk Avenue in Banani since its inception, will officially begin operations at its new headquarters in Shanta Pinnacle building in Tejgaon on 3 August.
The bank announced the relocation in a disclosure sent to Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday.
The new head office will occupy 32nd floor of Shanta Pinnacle, located at 190, Bir Uttam Mir Shawkat Sarak, Tejgaon. All activities previously conducted from the fourth floor of Iqbal Center have already been transferred to the new site.
Premier Bank had been based at Iqbal Center since receiving its license in June 1999. The building is owned by the bank’s founder chairman and former Member of Parliament, HBM Iqbal, who served as chairman from the bank’s founding until August 2025.
Following the political transition in 2024 and subsequent reforms in the banking sector, he was required to step down from the bank’s management.
The relocation occurs amidst an ongoing special forensic audit initiated by Bangladesh Bank to investigate allegations of financial irregularities at Premier Bank. It is one of approximately a dozen private banks currently undergoing such an audit.
For over two decades, a significant portion of the 22-storey Iqbal Center was leased to house the bank’s head office and various branch operations. This move marks the formal end of the bank’s 26-year association with its founder chairman’s property.
