Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the home of ailing former lawmaker and veteran BNP leader Khaleda Rabbani on Wednesday.
After completing scheduled programmes in Srimangal and Moulvibazar, he reached her residence on Shah Mostafa Road in Moulvibazar town around 5pm.
During the visit, Tarique inquired about her health and spoke with family members. Khaleda Rabbani became emotional, embraced him and broke down in tears. He comforted her and wished recovery for the long‑serving, dedicated party leader.
Party sources said Rabbani has been bedridden for a long time due to age‑related complications. Active in BNP politics since its inception, she was known as a close associate of former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
Rabbani served two terms in reserved women’s seats — first from 2 April 1979 to 24 March 1982, and again from 3 September 2005 to 27 October 2006.
Local BNP leaders described the prime minister’s visit as a gesture of respect and solidarity toward the party’s senior and selfless activists.
