Prime Minister Tarique Rahman began his first working day on Wednesday by paying tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War and his late parents.
Accompanied by members of the newly formed Cabinet, he arrived at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar at around 11am to honour the fallen heroes of the 1971 Liberation War.
Later at about 12pm, the prime minister visited Zia Udyan in the capital to pay homage at the graves of former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
After placing the wreath, they offered ‘Fateha’ and prayed to Almighty Allah for eternal peace for the departed souls of his parents.
