Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the medical treatment of an 18-month-old girl who survived a horrific road accident in Sherpur, Bogura.
Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon confirmed the matter. While four members of her family were killed in the crash, the critically injured child was moved to the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital in Agargaon, Dhaka, for advanced treatment.
Tarique has already consulted with the Deputy Commissioner of Bogura and the Director of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital regarding the child’s condition. He contacted the Director of the Neurosciences Hospital in Dhaka, directing that the highest level of care be ensured for the child.
The accident took place on Wednesday morning when a microbus carrying 12 passengers from Dhaka to Rangpur crashed in the Sherpur area of Bogura. One individual died at the scene, and three others – including the child’s parents – succumbed to their injuries after being taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
