Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday held a meeting with transport experts to review the progress of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and discuss its anticipated benefits.
The meeting took place at the Cabinet Division conference room of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat, where participants examined various aspects of the BRT route connecting Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and Joydebpur in Gazipur.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, experts exchanged views on the project’s design, station management, passenger facilities, operational framework and overall performance.
They also provided a number of observations and recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of the project.
The discussions focused on the current status of implementation, the progress achieved so far and the expected benefits of the BRT system once it becomes fully operational.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibur Rashid, senior officials of the Road Transport and Highways Division, and academics from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) attended the meeting.
Among the BUET representatives were Professors Md Shamsul Haque, Mosleh Uddin Hasan, Md Hadiuzzaman and Rakib Ahsan. Chief Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Moinul Hasan was also present.
