The programme continued until around 11:30am. He also exchanged greetings with former chief adviser Muhammad Yunus at Jamuna.
Earlier in the morning, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and PM Tarique Rahman offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the main congregation at the National Eidgah.
The prayers, led by Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s Khatib Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, were held at around 8:34am.
Cabinet members, lawmakers, senior political leaders, high-ranking civil and military officials, and people from different walks of life joined the congregation.
Eid prayers were organised by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), with separate arrangements for women at the venue.
Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals for Muslims, is being celebrated across the country. This marks Tarique Rahman’s first Eid in Bangladesh in 18 years, after spending 17 years in London.
Earlier, he expressed hope that the joy of Eid would reach every home and called on people to share the happiness of the festival with one another.
