Ferry and launch services on the Paturia–Daulatdia river route in Manikganj resumed after remaining suspended for around one hour due to adverse weather conditions on Wednesday morning.
Authorities halted ferry and launch operations at 7:10am due to rain and strong winds.
Earlier, officials suspended the services as heavy rain and gusty winds swept through the Paturia area, making river navigation risky.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha regional office Assistant General Manager (Commerce) Md Abdus Salam said sudden strong winds and heavy rainfall disrupted river movement.
He said authorities stopped ferry operations temporarily in the interest of passenger and vehicle safety as conditions turned hazardous on the waterway.
Ferry services resumed at 8am after weather conditions improved.
Passengers faced severe inconvenience due to both the rain and the suspension of ferry services during the morning hours.
