Pantha Kanai is set to revisit a beloved musical legacy this Eid with his new track ‘Abar Chumki’, a follow-up inspired by the iconic Bengali song ‘Chumki Choleche Eka Pothe’.

The original, sung by Khurshid Alam for the film ‘Dost Dushman’, remains a classic, with Kanai’s earlier remake also receiving strong audience appreciation.

The new song, written by Irfan Tushi, Arif Hossain and Sajin Salman, features music composed by Bibek Mazumder. It will premiere on the Gaanchill Music YouTube channel the day before Eid.

Directed by Tanim Rahman Angshu, the music video stars Khairul Basar and Parsa Evana, marking their first on-screen pairing. The video draws heavily on the visual style of Bengali cinema from the 1960s and 1970s, with a focus on nostalgia through its set design, costumes and performances.

Speaking about the project, Kanai described the original song as timeless and expressed hope that Abar Chumki would resonate with audiences during Eid.

Khairul Basar noted the track’s celebratory tone, while Angshu said the video aims to recreate the spirit of the earlier classic rather than follow a narrative structure.

Asif Iqbal, head of Gaanchill Music, said the new release continues the legacy of a song that has remained an enduring part of Bengali musical heritage, adding that it is expected to enhance the festive mood of Eid.
