A clash has erupted again between two groups in Sarail of Brahmanbaria following a dispute over land.
The clash took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Magurhati area of Deora village under Shahjadapur Union of the upazila.
At least 50 people from both sides were injured. Several houses were vandalised and looted during the incident.
Later, the situation was brought under control through a joint effort by the police and the army.
The injured were given treatment at the district hospital and various private clinics.
Police have detained 15 people over the incident.
According to police and local sources, a long-running dispute existed over a piece of land in Magurhati of Sarail between local Dana Mia and Shipon Mia of the same clan. Last Friday and Saturday, both sides had clashed over the issue.
As a continuation of that conflict, people from both sides engaged in another clash on Tuesday afternoon using spears, lances and local weapons. Around 50 people from both sides were injured in the four-hour-long clash. Two of the seriously injured have been sent to Dhaka.
During the clash, chase and counter-chase as well as brick-throwing created panic throughout the village. Several houses were also set on fire.
Brahmanbaria Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ehteshamul Haque said police and army personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
The army detained 15 people at the scene and handed them over to Sarail Police Station.
