The number of dengue patients in the country continues to rise, with one death and 242 new hospitalisations recorded in the 24 hours until 8am today.
According to the latest report from Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the single fatality occurred in Khulna. During this 24-hour period, 133 new patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, 40 in Khulna, 38 in Chattogram, 11 in Mymensingh, and 10 in Barishal.
From 1 January to this day, a total of 10,012 people have been hospitalised with dengue across the country. Dhaka has seen the highest number of admissions at 3,646, followed by Barishal with 2,453.
The total toll for the year now stands at 33. Of these fatalities, 17 were recorded in Dhaka, five in Mymensingh, four each in Chattogram and Khulna, two in Barishal, and one in Rajshahi.
DGHS data further reveals that 9,067 patients have recovered and been discharged so far, while 912 patients remain under treatment in various hospitals nationwide.
Regarding hospital-specific data in the capital, 112 new patients were admitted to Dhaka city hospitals in the last 24 hours. This includes 103 admissions in government and autonomous hospitals and nine in private clinics and hospitals.
Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital recorded the highest number of new admissions in the city, with 71 patients.
