The Election Commission on Sunday declared Col (retd) Oli Ahmad, nominated by the Jamaat‑led 11‑party opposition alliance, as a valid candidate in the presidential election.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin announced the decision after scrutinising his nomination paper around 11am at the CEC’s conference room in Nirbachan Bhaban, Agargaon.
Leaders of the 11‑party alliance were present during the scrutiny.
Earlier, the alliance had nominated Oli Ahmad, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), as its candidate.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on 20 August.
