Former US President Barack Obama noted that although extraterrestrial life could exist out there, the likelihood of aliens having actually visited Earth is slim.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama said the comment came during a fast-paced question segment and was not meant literally. He emphasised that there is no proof extraterrestrials have ever come to Earth or that the US government is concealing aliens or spacecraft at secret locations like Area 51.
In a message shared on Instagram, Obama explained, “Statistically, the universe is vast, so life likely exists elsewhere, but I saw no evidence of contact during my presidency.”
He also noted that when he entered office, he personally asked whether there were any alien bodies or recovered spacecraft, only to be told there were none.
While some unidentified aerial phenomena have been documented, he made clear they do not amount to evidence of alien contact.
