Rapid Action Battalion Director General Md Ahsan Habib Palash has said that there is no security threat surrounding Pohela Baishakh and New Year celebrations.

He assured that, as in previous years, special security measures have been taken across the country to ensure peaceful festivities.

Speaking to journalists on Monday after inspecting security preparations for Chhayanaut programme at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka, the RAB chief said intelligence reports, cyber monitoring, and data analysis have so far revealed no specific threats.

However, surveillance and field operations have been intensified to prevent any untoward incidents, he added.

He said 15 battalions of the force will remain deployed nationwide until the end of the celebrations. To strengthen security, 308 patrol teams including 127 motorcycle patrols will be on duty, alongside plainclothes members.

In Dhaka, security has been reinforced at key venues including Shahbagh, TSC, Suhrawardy Udyan, Rabindra Sarobar, Hatirjheel, Manik Mia Avenue, Bangla Academy, and Ramna Batamul. Checkposts and observation posts have been set up, while bomb disposal units and dog squads are on standby at key points.

RAB chief Ahsan Habib that special commando forces are prepared to respond to any emergency, working in coordination with local representatives and other law enforcement agencies. A central control room at RAB headquarters is monitoring the situation in the country.

He also said cyber monitoring teams are active to prevent the spread of rumours, provocative messages, or false information. Measures have been taken to ensure women attending the celebrations are protected from harassment or abuse.
