Police recovered the hanging body of a man named Ashraful, 38, from a residential hotel in the capital’s Mohakhali area on Sunday night.
The body was recovered around midnight from room No. 20 on the fifth floor of “Hotel Jahad” in Amtoli, Mohakhali.
Police later sent the body to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday for autopsy.
In the inquest report, Banani Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Nazmul Hasan said Ashraful was a resident of Shilashi village under Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district. He worked as a carpenter.
He also noted that police recovered the body after breaking open the door of the hotel room, following information from hotel authorities. Ashraful was found hanging inside the room.
Police said, “Primarily, the evidence indicates he committed suicide by hanging, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed after investigation. Further inquiries are ongoing.”
