Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said the proposal to purchase 60 cars for ministers of the new government has been cancelled in the meeting of the Advisory Council.
The adviser disclosed the decision while talking to reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Salehuddin clarified that the interim government has decided to procure 300 vehicles for use by the field administration in the upcoming elections.
He also revealed that a decision has been taken to send 100,000 workers to Japan. He mentioned that anyone with proficiency in the Japanese language, along with relevant skills, will have job opportunities in Japan.
About bank consolidation, the adviser said that Bangladesh Bank has taken a policy decision on the merger of five Islamic banks. Additionally, discussions are underway for the merger of 22 non-bank financial institutions.
He assured that even if these banks are merged, depositors will not face any issues. “Regardless of how depositors keep their money in these banks, there will be no impact on their deposits,” he said.
