Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Ashraful Alam Rasel said no farmer will be able to purchase fuel without a card or a certificate in Jibannagar, Chuadanga.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at an agricultural incentive distribution ceremony held at the Upazila Agriculture Officer’s conference room at 10am on Monday.
Ashraful stated that farmers must obtain a card or certificate to collect diesel and petrol by providing necessary information to the Upazila Agriculture Officer, Union or Municipal Block Supervisors, or Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officers. This certification can be obtained by submitting a photocopy of their Voter ID card.
He added, “No farmer can collect and store excess fuel at home beyond their needs. If illegally stored oil is found in anyone’s possession, legal action will be taken against them.”
To mitigate the suffering of farmers and avoid long queues at petrol pumps, the UNO mentioned that sub-dealers or agent points have been designated in various village markets. Farmers will be able to collect fuel from these points upon presenting their certificate or card.
Officials from the Upazila Agriculture Department were present during the event.
