The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) standing committees were formed immediately after the election of the new board of directors. On Tuesday, the adjourned first Board Meeting of the newly elected BCB Board of Directors resumed at the BCB Management Office in Mirpur. After a four-hour-long meeting, the newly formed committees held a press conference.
Newly elected director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, along with Shanian Tanin, Abdur Razzak, Khaled Masud Pilot, and Amzad Hussain, addressed the media regarding the newly formed standing committees.
President Aminul Islam Bulbul assumed the post of Chairman of the Bangladesh Premier League’s (BPL) governing council, with Iftekhar Rahman Mithu serving as the member secretary.
Aminul Islam Bulbul also took charge as the chairman of the working committees and the Grounds Committee, while Nazmul Abedin Fahim continues as the Chairman of Cricket Operations. Iftekhar Rahman Mithu retains his position in the BCB Umpires Committee. Ishtiaq Sadeque has been appointed to the Game Development Committee, and two former cricketers, Abdur Razzak and Khaled Masud Pilot, will be responsible for the Women’s Wing and the High Performance Unit, respectively.
Surprisingly, former BCB President and newly elected Vice President Faruque Ahmed was not assigned any role in the standing committees. Meanwhile, singer Asif Akbar has been appointed to the Age-Group Tournament Committee.
On Faruque not being assigned to any committee, Iftekhar said it was the President’s decision. He added, “Faruque Bhai does not hold any committee responsibility yet. He is the Vice President. I was the Cricket Board spokesman for a long time, and this committee was assigned to me. The President has the authority to assign roles, and perhaps Faruque Bhai is being used in other areas. He is a former captain and President with valuable experience.”
