Pakistan has said that no date has yet been finalised for the second round of talks between the United States and Iran.
“There are no dates yet,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi told reporters on Thursday, urging the media to refrain from speculation. “We will announce the timing of these talks as and when it is decided,” he added, reports AP/UNB.
Andrabi said Pakistan’s role as a mediator and facilitator continued beyond the conclusion of the first round of talks over the weekend. “It has not ended,” he said.
He noted that Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is currently visiting Iran with a delegation, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also travelling to regional countries to promote peace.
“We will continue to advocate for peace, prosperity and stability,” he said.
Commenting on the initial round of discussions, Andrabi said there was “certainly not a major breakthrough in terms of any concrete document,” but added that “there was no breakdown either.”
