A man, who sustain burn injured in an explosion at a power plant canteen in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj, has died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, raising the death toll to two.
The deceased, Amir, 25, succumbed to his injuries around 10am on Saturday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), said Shawon Bin Rahman, resident medical officer of the hospital.
He had suffered burns over 80 percent of his body.
Earlier, another injured person, Shankar, 25, died on Thursday while receiving treatment.
The explosion occurred on 13 May at the canteen of a power plant in Sonargaon, reportedly caused by a gas leakage.
A total of 12 people sustained burn injuries in the incident.
The injured included Ramijul, 15, Monir Hossain, 45, Badrul Huda, 9, Tuhin Sheikh, 30, Suprobhat Ghosh, 42, Osman Goni, 30, Al Amin, 30, Nazmul Sheikh, 40, Saiful Islam, 30, Shankar, 25, Kawsar, 30, and Amir, 25.
Hospital sources said six of the injured have already been discharged after treatment, while four others are still receiving treatment at the burn unit.
