Neymar has admitted he remains uncertain about a potential move to Major League Soccer, despite growing speculation linking him with FC Cincinnati.
Speaking to ESPN on Thursday, the 34-year-old forward said he has yet to decide on his next step.
“I honestly don’t know,” Neymar said when asked about the possibility of joining MLS.
Neymar added that his immediate priority is to see out his current contract with Santos, where he serves as captain. His deal with the Brazilian Serie A side runs until the end of this year.
However, injuries have limited his impact in 2026. The forward has made just eight appearances so far this season due to a knee problem, registering four goals and three assists.
Reports earlier this month suggested that FC Cincinnati are exploring the possibility of signing Neymar during the summer transfer window, potentially bringing one of football’s biggest names to MLS.
Neymar returned to Santos in 2025, having previously begun his professional career there between 2009 and 2013. He rose to global prominence during his time at FC Barcelona, where he formed part of a star-studded attack, before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in a record-breaking transfer.
He later had a brief spell with Al-Hilal, which was disrupted by a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Neymar also shared the pitch with Lionel Messi at both Barcelona and PSG, with Messi now starring in MLS.
A regular figure for the Brazil national football team since 2013, Neymar has not featured for his country since 2023. He has, however, made it clear that he hopes to return in time for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.
