Newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday.
During the meeting, the prime minister and the Navy chief discussed a range of issues, including maritime security, modernisation of the Bangladesh Navy, strengthening the force’s professional capabilities, and other related issues.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, Tarique Rahman praised the professionalism of the Bangladesh Navy and highlighted its significant role in protecting the country’s sovereignty.
The prime minister also wished Vice Admiral Misbah-ul-Azim success in discharging his responsibilities as the new Navy chief.
Vice Admiral Misbah-ul-Azim expressed his gratitude to the prime minister during the meeting.
Earlier on Thursday, Rear Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim was promoted to the rank of vice admiral at a ceremony held at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and outgoing Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan formally placed the rank badges on the newly appointed Navy chief at the ceremony.
