New-Gen Universe Inc. will launch its first consumer products initiative at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with an exclusive collector’s trading card set celebrating its Marvel-distributed comic series and upcoming animated show, reports Variety.
The limited-edition collection, created in partnership with Cryptozoic Entertainment, will be available exclusively during the convention from 23 to 26 July.
Only 300 boxes have been produced worldwide, making them among the rarest New-Gen collectibles released to date.
The launch also builds anticipation for New-Gen Nanobot Heroes, a 13-episode 3D CGI animated series currently in development.
Created by J.D. Matonti, Julia Coppola and Chris Matonti, New-Gen follows twin brothers Sean and Chris, whose bodies gain nanotechnology-powered abilities as they battle the villain Daedalus in a futuristic world where nature and technology coexist.
Each collector’s box contains 13 trading cards, including 11 base cards featuring artwork from the comic series, one rainbow foil card and one autograph card signed by either creator J.D. Matonti or voice actors Molly Fahey and Tony Oliver.
Each autograph card is limited to 100 copies, while selected base and foil cards are one-of-a-kind editions.
Fans who purchase the set at Comic-Con will also receive a complimentary New-Gen graphic novel featuring a foreword by actor Mark Hamill.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Debra Joester and Cryptozoic Entertainment on this first New-Gen consumer products initiative,” said creator J.D. Matonti. “We envision many more imaginative opportunities as we continue expanding the New-Gen Nanobot Heroes story.”
The consumer products programme is led by Debra Joester, president of Joester Loria Group, which is overseeing the franchise’s merchandising expansion.
Visitors to Comic-Con will also get an early look at new artwork from New-Gen Nanobot Heroes before the series debuts.
The franchise will also hold a giveaway offering fans the chance to win a signed graphic novel autographed by Hamill.
The animated series features a voice cast that includes Finn Wolfhard, Nick Wolfhard, Anya Chalotra, Luke Wilson, Henry Rollins, Taylor Gray, Molly Fahey, Lena Headey and Tony Oliver.
Toonz Media Group will distribute the series internationally, while Ketchup Entertainment will handle its domestic release.
