The newly elected executive committee of the Bangladesh Cinematographers Association for the 2026–2028 term took oath on Wednesday (26 August) at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
The ceremony was held at 5pm at the VIP Projection Hall of the Zaher Raihan Colour Lab at BFDC.
Association adviser Khorshed Alam Khosru administered the oath to newly elected president Asaduzzaman Majnu at the beginning of the ceremony.
Majnu then administered the oath to the other members of the executive committee.
The 15-member committee is headed by Asaduzzaman Majnu as president.
Lal Mohammad has been appointed vice-president, Shahidullah Dulal general secretary, Khorshed Alam Chowdhury joint secretary, Ishtak Rahman organising secretary, Dilip Bhowmik finance secretary, Zahirul Islam Khan cultural secretary and Mominul Haque Chowdhury Sanchi foreign affairs secretary.
Azgar Ali has taken charge as publicity and office secretary.
The executive committee members are Anwar Hossain Bulu, SM Azhar, Kamrul Ahmed Panir, Moniruzzaman Monir, AKM Bulbul Khan and Md Faruk Hossain Tanvir.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, a milad mahfil was held to mark Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.
The new committee was formed following the deaths of the association’s previous president Abdul Latif Bacchu on 4 January and vice-president Abu Hena Bablu on 11 April.
Representatives of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association, Bangladesh Film Producers and Distributors Association, Bangladesh Film Directors Association, Bangladesh Makeup Man Association, Angasajjokar Samity, Jatiyatabadi Chalachitra Forum and Bangladesh Senior Assistant Film Directors Association (SIDAB) attended the ceremony and congratulated the newly elected committee members with flowers.
The new committee members pledged to protect the interests of cinematographers and contribute to the development of the country’s film industry.
