National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has postponed its Shahbagh sit-in scheduled for Friday after Jumma prayers in Dhaka following the death of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

Instead, the party has called for a protest march from Banglamotor at 4pm.

NCP Convener Nahid Islam announced the change in a statement earlier. He urged participants to exercise maximum caution during any programme after Jumma prayers.

“Opposition forces are reportedly planning acts of vandalism and sabotage similar to Thursday night. We oppose all forms of violence and disruption,” he said.

Nahid Islam also warned against the exploitation of public anger. He urged citizens to ensure that no rogue group carries out vandalism, arson, or any other disruptive activities during the protest.

The party’s revised plan comes amid heightened tensions following Hadi’s death, reflecting concerns over potential unrest in the capital.
