The government has extended the tenure of the National Consensus Commission (NCC) till 31 October, a cabinet division circular said on Thursday.
The extension of the NCC tenure came just one day ahead of the signing of the July Charter on the parliament premises on Friday amid uncertainty of signing by many parties.
The Cabinet Division issued the circular signed by Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Thursday. “The decision would take immediate effective,” it read.
The government formed the seven-member commission, headed by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, to review and adopt the recommendations from six reform commissions holding dialogues with political parties to reach consensus on proposed reforms.
In August, the government had extended the NCC tenure by one month. Later in September, it had extended the deadline again until 15 October.
