National Life Insurance PLC reported a 21 per cent year-on-year increase in its consolidated surplus for the second quarter of 2026, supported by higher excess of total income over expenses including claims, while its Life Insurance Fund expanded by more than Tk900 crore during the year.
The insurer’s consolidated surplus stood at Tk204.56 crore in the April-June quarter of 2026, up from Tk169.08 crore in the same period a year earlier, according to its unaudited financial statements.
However, the improvement in quarterly performance did not translate into higher half-year earnings. For the January-June period, the company’s consolidated surplus fell to Tk83.76 crore from Tk201.92 crore in the corresponding period of 2025.
Despite the decline in half-year surplus, National Life Insurance’s consolidated Life Insurance Fund increased to Tk7,102.06 crore as of June 30, 2026, from Tk6,198.12 crore a year earlier, registering a net increase of Tk903.94 crore.
The insurer’s consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) also improved slightly to Tk23.62 during the first six months of 2026 from Tk23.19 in the same period a year earlier.
National Life Insurance’s shares, with a face value of Tk10 each, rose by 1.56 per cent to close at Tk103.90 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
