Bangladesh archery witnessed a record-laden start on Wednesday morning at the Tongi Archery Training Academy, where the qualifying round of the 16th National Archery Championships produced historic scores across categories.
The Bangladesh Archery Federation organised the event with City Group sponsorship, and competition began early as 205 archers from 72 clubs took aim with intent and precision.
The scale alone set the tone. Ninety-eight recurve men, 56 recurve women, 27 compound men, and 24 compound women turned the qualifying round into a relentless test of consistency.
The recurve men’s individual event delivered authority rather than drama. Rakib Mia of the Bangladesh Air Force topped the standings with a commanding 673, setting the pace for the field.
In the recurve women’s section, Sayma Salah Uddin of BKSP matched composure with accuracy. Her 649 underlined control over pressure and distance.
Compound archery brought the biggest numbers and the loudest statements. Aishwarzo
Rahman of BKSP dominated the men’s individual event with a formidable 708.
Kulsum Akhter Moni of BKSP led the compound women with 689. She balanced rhythm and patience to separate herself from a tightly packed field.
Team events pushed the standards even higher. The Bangladesh Air Force recurve men’s team posted a record 2002 through Rakib Mia, Ramkrishna Saha, and Abdur Rahman Alif.
BKSP answered in the recurve women’s team event. Sayma Salah Uddin, Monira Akhter, and Sonali Roy combined for a record 1889 out of 2100.
Mixed events kept the momentum rolling. The Bangladesh Air Force pair of Seema Akhter Shimu and Rakib Mia topped the recurve mixed standings with 1308.
Compound teams followed the same script of dominance. BKSP’s men claimed first place with 2071, while the Bangladesh Air Force women led with 2024.
The compound mixed title stayed with BKSP as Kulsum Akhter Moni and Aishwarya Rahman posted 1397. The numbers confirmed what the range already knew.
