The namaz-e-janaza of Jannatul Ferdous, an assistant professor at Jahangirnagar University(JU), will be held after Jumma prayers on Friday in front of the university’s Central Mosque. Jannatul passed away Friday morning while on JUCSU election duty for the ongoing JUCSU and hall union polls.
Jannatul, who was serving as a polling officer, suddenly fell ill around 9:00 am at the Election Commission office on campus. She was rushed to Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Her death was confirmed by Associate Professor Shamim Reza, head of the Department of Fine Arts, where Jannatul served as a faculty member. Burial details have yet to be finalised.
Jannatul completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 2016 and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2018, specialising in painting, Islamic art, and art history.
