Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman said on Sunday that his stint in the UAE-based ILT20 had played a key role in preparing him for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“Yes, it was good for my World Cup preparation,” Mustafizur said when asked about his build-up upon arrival at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.

He played eight matches for Dubai Capitals, taking 15 wickets and currently ranking as the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.

Another Bangladeshi pacer, Taskin Ahmed, featured in six matches for Sharjah Warriors, claiming nine wickets, while Shakib Al Hasan represented MI Emirates in five games and took three wickets.

Mustafizur also praised the presence of Bangladeshi players in the league and expressed hope that more national team members would participate in overseas tournaments. “If our national team players play in these leagues, not just two or three, it always feels good,” he said.

Both Mustafizur and Taskin ended their ILT20 campaigns early to return home for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Taskin will turn out for Dhaka Capitals, while Mustafizur is set to represent Rangpur Riders.
