Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy both struck destructive centuries in the same innings as Mohammedan Sporting Club posted a commanding 333 for 4 against Gazi Group Cricketers in the ninth round of the Dhaka Premier League at BKSP Ground 2 on Friday.
Mohammedan captain Towhid Hridoy won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was immediately vindicated by an outstanding opening stand. Anamul Haque Bijoy and Naim Sheikh put on 107 for the first wicket, setting a confident platform for the innings. Naeem departed for 53 off 60 balls shortly before the total reached 150.
What followed was a partnership of controlled aggression. Mushfiqur and Hridoy came together and proceeded to dismantle the Gazi Group bowling attack with a 173-run stand that effectively put the match beyond reach.
Mushfiqur reached his century off just 55 balls, striking 8 fours and 6 sixes before being dismissed for exactly 100 with the team total on 316. Hridoy, batting with equal authority, remained unbeaten on 101 off 66 balls, his innings laced with 8 fours and 6 sixes of his own.
With the innings reduced to 42 overs due to rain, Mohammedan finished at 333 for 4, scoring at a run rate of just under 8 per over.
