A motorcyclist died after being hit by a speeding truck while taking a U-turn at the Jatiya Press Club intersection in Dhaka early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sentu Islam, 45, son of Alauddin Khalashi, a resident of Islambagh, Eidgah Math, Chawkbazar in the capital.
According to his friend Alamin, the accident occurred around 1:00 am when a speeding truck ran over Sentu as he was taking a U-turn on his motorcycle, leaving him critically injured.
He was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 1:45am, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the death and said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
