Director Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz is set to return this Eid with the sequel to his widely viewed drama ‘Tomader Golpo’, following the success of the original which drew more than 47 million views online.
The first instalment aired during Eid-ul-Fitr last year and received widespread acclaim, with many viewers regarding it as one of the standout dramas of the season. Centred on family relationships and emotional bonds, the story resonated strongly with audiences and gained significant traction on YouTube.
Encouraged by that response, its sequel ‘Tomader Golpo 2’ is now in production, with a script by Siddiqur Rahman. Filming is currently underway, and the drama is scheduled to be broadcast this upcoming Eid on Channel i and Cinemawala.
The cast features Jovan, Totini, Intekhab Dinar, Deepa Khandakar, Monira Mithu, Saberi Alam, Dilara Zaman, Khairul Alam Sabuj and Ejajul Islam, among others.
Jovan, who won Best Actor at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards for the first instalment, said, “It is rare to have so many talented performers in a one-hour drama. Working with such experienced actors motivates me to do better. I believe we will be able to meet the audience’s expectations with this sequel.”
Totini said, “Working with such experienced actors leaves little room for weak performances. I feel this project is giving me strong learning.”
Speaking about the drama, veteran actress Dilara Zaman said, “Family relationships are breaking down. But Raz’s stories help strengthen those bonds. There are many twists in this story. Viewers will feel joy, emotion, pain, and finally satisfaction.”
Ejajul Islam added, “Raz is not only making good dramas. He is also creating opportunities for actors like us. This is helping improve our work and bringing audiences back to Bangla dramas.”
Raz, who recently gained further recognition for ‘Eta Amaderi Golpo’ and won Best Director at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards for Tomader Golpo, said the sequel continues to draw from everyday experiences.
“Audiences always connect with my work because they find themselves in the stories. Family, relationships, and emotions are close to their lives. I have tried to build Tomader Golpo 2 from that place. I hope viewers will again find their reflection in this story,” he said.
