Renowned actor Mosharraf Karim, who once made headlines for returning a National Film Award, is set to share candid reflections on his life and career in a special podcast episode running for 102 minutes.
The popular actor will appear as the featured guest on the podcast ‘Behind the Fame with RRK’, to be aired tonight at 8:00 pm on Maasranga Television and Radio Dinraat 93.6 FM. The episode is hosted by Rumman Rashid Khan, promising an in-depth conversation rarely seen before.
The discussion revisits the controversy surrounding the 2018 National Film Award, which Mosharraf Karim returned after being declared Best Comic Actor for his role as Mofizur in Komola Rocket. Despite the character being one of the film’s central roles, the category sparked debate, prompting the actor to take an unprecedented stand; and in the podcast, he speaks openly about the incident and the principles behind his decision.
During the conversation, Mosharraf Karim also shares lighter moments from his personal life, including how KM Mosharraf Hossain eventually became Mosharraf Karim. With humour, he admits his limited cooking skills, saying he can fry eggs, poach them and boil them, adding that he once tried learning steamed egg recipes from YouTube but has since forgotten.
Reflecting on his early years, the actor recalls participating enthusiastically in school cultural programmes held every Thursday from January to April, and even performing briefly as a professional child artiste in theatre productions.
Describing himself as deeply devoted to acting, Mosharraf Karim stresses the importance of integrity in the arts. He says he was taught early in his theatre days in Dhaka that to be an artist, one must first be an honest human being, a lesson that has stayed with him throughout his life.
He also voices concern over growing intolerance on social media, noting that many people post without verifying facts, only to be proven wrong later. “What is gained by making oneself smaller?” he asks.
