Mohammad Younus, Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, has been elected President of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association (BPGA) for the 2026 to 2028 term. Sifat Ahmed Chaudhuri, Vice Chairman of ABN Formulation and Trading Ltd., has been elected Secretary General.
The BPGA held its Executive Committee election on June 26 at Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment. The Election Commission announced the official results a day later.
Dr. Afshan Anis was elected Vice President. Md. Musa became Joint Secretary, while Mohammad Nurul Kabir was elected Treasurer.
The new Executive Committee also includes Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Md. Shakhawat Hossain Shohel, Brig. Gen. GM Quamrul Islam (Retd.), Bashir Ahmed, Abul Kalam Azad, Md. Dulal Hossain, Sahid, Md. Ismail Hossain, Md. Sajib Ali and Nadim Hossan.
The Election Commission thanked the outgoing Executive Committee for the 2024 to 2026 term. It also thanked the Election Appeal Committee, the candidates, the voters and all members for helping complete a fair and peaceful election.
The newly elected committee said it will work to develop professional golf in Bangladesh. It also promised to improve the welfare of professional golfers and strengthen the activities of the Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association during its two year term.
